Casa Guide
Overview
The Casa Guide is responsible for creating a calm, welcoming, and well-organized classroom environment that supports the learning and well-being of children ages 3–6. In this role, the Guide prepares thoughtful materials, offers gentle and developmentally appropriate guidance, and supports children as they build independence, social skills, and emotional regulation.
The position includes observing and documenting each child’s progress, maintaining clear and supportive communication with families, collaborating closely with the teaching team, and upholding all health, safety, and Alberta licensing standards to ensure a safe and nurturing learning space.
Reporting
The Casa Guide reports directly to the Director, Flourish Montessori Learning Academy.
Requirements
- A Level 2 Early Childhood Educator certification or a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in early learning or childcare
- Preference given to candidates with experience in a Montessori-inspired practice
- Self-motivated and highly organized
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Satisfactory background check
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid Emergency First Aid Certificate
Duties
The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
Classroom Environment & Preparation
- Help create a calm, organized, and welcoming classroom where children feel loved and supported
- Prepare and maintain learning materials, ensuring the environment feels beautiful, intentional, and safe
- Support both Montessori-inspired work and play-based activities appropriate for ages 3–6
Supporting the Child
- Offer gentle guidance as children build independence in dressing, toileting, eating, and daily routines
- Present learning activities when children show interest or readiness, keeping things joyful and engaging
- Encourage kindness, cooperation, and positive social interactions
- Support emotional regulation by modeling patience, empathy, and clear boundaries
Observation & Documentation
- Communicate clearly with families through Lillio and in-person conversations
- Observe children daily and track development in social, emotional, cognitive, and physical areas
- Maintain accurate documentation for attendance, incidents, and learning plans
- Bring forward any concerns with care, sensitivity, and professionalism
Communication & Collaboration
- Build trusting relationships with families by sharing updates, listening to concerns, and celebrating each child’s strengths
- Work as part of a collaborative, uplifting team that values communication and mutual support
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and ongoing professional development
Health, Safety & Licensing
- Follow all Alberta licensing requirements, safety procedures, and emergency protocols
- Monitor children’s health and respond appropriately to illness or accidents
- Ensure the classroom remains clean, organized, and safe at all times
